Rimski legionarji (animatorji) bodo predstavili delovanje rimske vojske, vojaško opremo in igre, s katerimi so si krajšali čas.

3. Rimska kovačija Predstavitev kovanja rimskodobnega orodja Kovač (arheolog) bo predstavil delovanje kovačije in postopke izdelave orodja.

5. Rimska tržnica in kuhinja Poznavalci rimske kulinarike vam bodo predstavili recepture in prehrano Rimljanov.

Vabljeni, da z deblakom »odplujete« v čas Rimljanov!

We invite you to join us on a journey to a time when Romans lived on the the Ljubljana Marshes.

Skupina STIK, Cultural Association Vespesjan, Institute for Underwater Archaeology and other project partners invite you to the workshop »Reconstruction of a Roman logboat« on Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 9 AM to 5 PM, at the access to the ponds in Verd near Vrhnika.

You will learn about the construction of a Roman logboat, the most typical representative of the Ljubljanica River and the Ljubljana Marshes. The construction of said boat is carried out in the manner and with the tools that were typical for the Roman period. You will also be able to visit a Roman camp and mingle with the Romans, who will tell you many interesting things about their lives.

The day-long event will have five separate areas:

1. Entry / Info point The information on the ”Project Logboat” will be provided here.

2. Roman military camp Here you will find out what a Roman military camp looked liked and what the life of a legionary was like. You will be able to see a Roman tent (contubernium) with the military equipment. The legionaries will explain how the Roman army was organized, what equipment they used and what games they played to pass the time.

3. A Roman forge Here you will be able to observe how tools were made and the blacksmith (archaeologist) will explain how a forge looked like and what procedures the Romans used.

4. The Roman logboat Our animators will tell you how the logboat, a vessel which sailed our waters 2000 years ago, was made in Roman times. You will find out which tools and techniques were used and help us with the construction.

5. Roman cuisine and a roman market The connoisseurs of Roman cuisine will tell you what the Romans ate and which recipes they used.

We invite you to ”sail” to Roman times on a logboat!
